MIRACLES FOR 2025

He Gives Peaceful Pastures

Psalm 23:1-6

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psa 23:2  Psa 23:3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psa 23:4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psa 23:5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psa 23:6

Psalm 23 is probably the best known of all the Psalms.  It is quoted often, and in many cases, it is that which brings calmness out of chaos.

David as the shepherd of Israel understood the needs of sheep and all that they needed to thrive and prosper.  He also saw the Lord as our Shepherd.  Jesus even took “The Good Shepherd” as one of His titles in John 10:11. It is the Lord, our Shepherd, that watches over us in every season of life.

When we are troubled, we look to the Lord for the peace and rest that we need.  We read, He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  We see that He is there, close by, and keeping a watchful eye over us.  He knows the dangers we face, and He keeps them from us.

Not only does He take care of us, but He also guides us as we go through difficult times.  This is seen in the statement where the Scriptures say, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  The very peace that He gives us is beyond wonderful, even in the hardest trials of life.

Next, we see how He gives the provision we need as He prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  God realizes how much we need Him, and He is always there when we need Him.  Sometimes we do not see His presence immediately, but by His promise, we know that He is always with us.  Matthew 28:20 … and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The greatest blessing of all is that we know that no matter what happens to us here on this troubled planet, we have an eternal home with Him forever.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
