Crucified

Mark 15:25-32

And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. Mar 15:26  And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. ar 15:27  And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. Mar 15:28  And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. Mar 15:29  And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroys the temple, and builds it in three days, Mar 15:30  Save thyself, and come down from the cross. Mar 15:31  Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. Mar 15:32  Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

The Lord of glory is accused, tried, sentenced, and then crucified.  He who came to do good, show love, and help others is taken and hung on a cross.   And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. Mar 15:26  And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.  They called Him the King of the Jews, but in reality He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.  He is the Savior of the world who was despised and rejected as was written of Him over 700 years prior.  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted  (Isaiah 53:34).

They placed Him there between two thieves, but He was innocent.  His was a death that seemed unwarranted, but there was a divine plan in place that put Him there.  And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.  Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities (Isaiah 53:9-11).

You see, God was in it.  It was the Lord’s way of purchasing redemption for all mankind.  The LORD saw His sacrifice and was satisfied.  This means that Jesus’ death on the cross was sufficient payment to blot out our sin.  Yes, Jesus paid it all, and it was for love that He did it.  It was so unfair, but it was necessary because there is no other way for us to be right with God.  This is the reason we have John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

We thank the Lord that Jesus was willing to become sin for us so that we might have His righteousness.  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21).  This is why Jesus was crucified.  Praise the Lord!
